These models use the magnetodynamic H-phi formulation implemented in COMSOL version 6.2. This H-phi formulation is an improvement of our previously published quasi-static formulation due to the more natural coupling through the Faraday’s law in both conducting and non-conducting domains. Indeed, we demonstrated in the paper that the error between the H and H-phi formulation is down to machine precision even with first order elements. In order to understand how the formulation was implemented, the “Equation view” must be enabled, since some features needed to be modified under the hood.
From this blog, two models can be downloaded: One for modelling the magnetization of a bulk disk and one for magnetizing a bulk ring in 2D. The ring bulk needs a cut to implement a discontinuity in phi in the center of the bulk since the magnetic scalar potential is multiply connected.
